What defines Reef Guardians- A mission statement
Our organization is an education, science and heart - based nonprofit that works with local communities, universities, business groups and government to monitor and study the rapid changes to our coral reefs and its inhabitants, surf breaks, beaches, coastal communities and wetlands.
Our "near shore ecosystem" is the most important part of planet earth for the long term health of the human race and we intend to study this sensitive changing environment using the best possible science known to humankind.
Our intent is to protect the health of the Reefs that we love and when negative issues are found our goal is not to just discover the issues that may be effecting our Reefs negatively but to develop Reef Guardians of all ages that are truly connected to the ocean and that will commit themselves to the endgame of creating solutions that guard the welfare of Hawaii’s coral reefs.
Our philosophy is to share all scientific data and results with everyone equally and create solutions. The result will provide people with an increased ability to properly manage this changing environment in the future."
Reef Guardians mission is to protect the reefs and to inform, educate and create action. Working with local communities, universities, business groups and government we continue to study the rapid changes to our coral reefs, and near shore habitats. With a better understanding and clearly defining the problems within this fragile ecosystem we are on the path to creating solutions.
Education is key and participation in Ocean conservation begins with our children and 2017 is the year for the Keiki...New programs are being planned for K-12 participation and with your help we can ensure the Oceans health for generations to come.
"The worlds coral reefs are facing a massive decline due to accelerated climate change, rising sea levels, human-made pollution, ocean acidification, over development and other human based activities, this is truly an anthropogenic era."
Our philosophy is to educate and share all scientific data and results with everyone equally and create solutions. The result will provide people with an increased ability to properly manage this changing environment in the future ."
