RESEARCH BOAT !
Our boat access was lost during the flooding on the North Shore when sadly the Zodiac was carried out to sea. Safety and reliability in the water is extremely important especially when we are transporting our A list of advisors as well as scientific teams and researchers direct to the reef sites that need to be studied and monitored. It is equally important to maintain our watch on the health of these many fragile ecosystems here on Hawaii.
REEF CAMP NEEDS a VAN !
Hundreds of students have participated in this field study program over the last two years. With van transportation we can provide more island-wide programs as well as transport learners, over-coming transportation obstacles.

Meet PLATINUM LEVEL ($5000.00) contributor: Lynda Weinman
Co-founder of Lynda.com
Along with her husband Bruce Heavin, Weinman is the co-founder of Lynda.com, an award-winning online software training website. Prior to this venture, she was a special effects animator in the film industry, working on such films as 'RoboCop 2'(1990) and 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' (1989). She was also a faculty member of the American Film institute, the Art Center College of Design, UCLA and the San Francisco State Multimedia Studies program, where she taught interactive design, motion graphics and animation.
Unusual for the founder of an online startup, Weinman has a degree in the Humanities from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. As becomes apparent in the Lynda Weinman keynotes, she was able to become fluent in animation, business and computers through making use of effective and motivated learning methods.
Reef Guardians in California has been busy working on their new research vessel REEF GUARDIAN I...The vessel already played a significant role in tagging juvenile Great White sharks off the Santa Barbara coast line.
Next on the list will be helping to locate and and also to secure new receivers to better aid in tracking these apex predators.
Sharks are a good sign of a healthy ocean environment! We have been busy working closely with shark experts like Dr. Chris Lowe at CSULB Shark Lab and also with the Monterey Bay aquarium. They will be producing a show on these juvenile sharks to be shown daily in their theater to well over 100,000 visitors who walk through their doors each year! Reef Guardians has freel provided High Definition 4K film footage of these teenage sharks for the aquariums film. It's all about knowledge and knowledge is power and in the case of these sharks it also alleviates fear!
